Hill Master Series Rodriguez No. 2117
2004 Hill Master Series Rodriguez Model (U.S.A.) No. 2117, 650 mm scale, 51 mm nut, 41 mm spacing between 1st and 6th strings, action at the 12th fret measures 4 mm on the bass side and 3 mm on the treble side. Cedar top, Indian rosewood sides and back, original french polish of shellac, Gold deluxe Gotoh tuning machines. This is one of the Hill Master series made in Kenny Hill’s Felton, California workshop and it is a very close copy of the guitars of Miguel Rodriguez of Córdoba which were made so famous by the Romero family. Kenny’s Rodriguez models were in our opinion the best copies ever made of this iconic model and to their advantage, they do not have the intonation and tuning issues present on many of the unaltered originals. In addition, the hill shop built these with a 2 way adjustable truss rod embedded in the neck which makes it possible to very easily change the neck relief to suit the player without having to refret the guitar. The sound is very southern Spanish, explosively quick, brilliant and very deep in the bass, a throaty very colorful instrument which plays like a fast Italian sports car drives. We love these older Master series for their integrity and attention to detail. Minor crazing, playing and handling wear on the original french polish which in no way affects the musicality nor long term viability of the instrument. $4,500
